Clifford Alarms
Author: Alan
Great news! Autoleads, a major supplier of audio equipment accessories, have taken over the Clifford Car Alarm distribution in the UK!
Even better news is that this week they have granted MOTORQUIP a Clifford Alarm Agency. This enables me to supply & fit new Clifford alarms and I will have the technical backup and replacement parts for repairs to previous Clifford alarm systems.
Sadly I heard through the grapevine that the VSIB has seized to trade, they used to set the standards for alarms fitters and were closely linked to insurance companies, be assured I will maintain their high standards for all alarms I fit.
I will continue to supply & install the ultra reliable Cobra alarms but Clifford alarms have some great toys like remote start which the Cobra has not so rthe brands will run alongside each other and offer more customer choice.

In Car Computer
Author: Alan
I hope by the weekend I will have a demonstration In Car Computer set up in the shop!
As powerful as a good quality laptop these units are locally made and give you so many options like a recordable web cam ( especially suitable for taxis ), a hard drive to store your music and video, a mobile Internet dongle would give you Internet access for web surfing, emails etc., a bluetooth dongle could be useful, you can plug your Ipod into one of the 6 usb ports and sat nav can also be provided!
Come in and have a play!
Parking at the rear of the shop.
A great, flexible and affordable addition to your in car entertainment system for fun use and business users!

Tracker
Author: Alan
Today a long awaited new product arrived!
I have fitted several different types of tracking system to various cars for reasons of security for customers insurance companies and for business users to keep an eye on where and when their vehicles are being used for their own purposes.
This new tracker is different because instead of the usual 12 month contract this one uses a pay as you go sim card which means if you don’t use it it will not cost you a penny! A fairly frequent tracking record is expected to cost around £20 to £30 pounds a year. A normal fleet business tracker system is at least £12+vat per month and you are tied to it for a year.
This unit is transferable from vehicle to vehicle and has the option to immobilise the vehicle by sending a signal to it if you wish to! It is not a insurance approved type tracker like the Cobratrak system but for fleet tracking a very good tool!

Bluetooth Radios & CD Players Explained
Author: Alan
When you say Bluetooth to some people they immediately think of something ugly and irritating stuck into their ear! We use the same technology as the earpieces do but link your phone to the headunit ( CD/ Radio / DVD ) by “Pairing” it instead.
Pairing is a coded way of wirelessly connecting two bluetooth devices, it is not magic but just downright clever and once “paired” the two devices will connect automatically next time you get in your car.
Ok so what happens when you get a call? Well whatever you are listening to will stop and the phone will ring though the car speakers, you hit a button and the call connects and you talk just as though the caller was in the car! To be honest if you have a noisy van or car you may have to raise your voice to make sure the caller can hear you!
To make outgoing calls your can use the screen as many headunits take your contacts into themselves so you can pick them out, this works really well on DVD players but not so well on smaller headunits unless your eyesight is really good! If your mobile phone supports it you can use voice dailing, that is saying the name of your contact to make the call. Some people I know use the speed dial feature on their phone but I cannot advocate that as I am not sure it is legal! The JVC headunits BT22 & BT11 both use the raio station preset buttons as speed dials which is cute.
I have both of them, a flashy Kenwood, a couple of different Sonys and a Mutant headunit on display, pop down with your mobile and try it out!

VW Transporter DVD
Author: Alan
I recently had the pleasure of being given a blank cheque to supply & fit a Navigation system into VW Transporter T5. I choose the JVC double din Sat Nav unit with bluetooth for the phone and a reversing camera. The job went like a dream and the results were excellent, I think I have never seen a happier customer!
Have a look at the JVC unit here: http://www.jvcmobile.co.uk/product.php?pr=166

Sorry no finance available
Author: Alan
Hi I was asked today if I could arrange some finance for a customer and I am sorry but I don’t have that facility.
I am happy to do a “Lay By” for customers where we set a price for something and you give me the money in dribs and drabs until the goods are paid for in full.
