About Me
Hi my name is Alan Madams and I am the proprietor of MOTORQUIP.
MOTORQUIP is an accessory shop in Newton Abbot. I have help in the from of my landlord and mentor Ian Berrisford who has semi-retired but can often be found serving in the shop and helping in the workshop.
I have been in the motor trade for most of my career starting as an apprentice at Dutton Forshaw, before they knocked it down and built Tescos, working in at Bovey Straights service station before doing a short stint of teaching motor vehicle studies at Torquay tech. For the next few years I was self employed and worked for Trevor Redmond helping to market and run the stockcar tracks he operated. This was very convenient as I was racing a formula two stockcar at the same time! Eventually the freedom of self employment was given up for a job with prospects, I joined Chelston Garage as a service advisor and but for a brief interlude in a wonderful badge making factory I worked for the owner John Field for the next 20 years! I progressed through to senior management with this company experiencing Marketing, Bodyshop, Parts and Service management.
Motorquip caught my eye when the new road opened and I approached Ian so see if we could broker a deal, well we did! I took over the shop on the 1st September 2006 and have not looked back since!
In this website I hope to give good, accurate and helpful advice on the products and services I offer, I do not intend to sell anything on the internet but please if you have a certain product you fancy that is available on line but not in the shop let me know, often I can match the pricing and if something does go wrong you know who you paid your money to and where to find me!
Be assured customer satisfaction is a high priority to me, I want you to come back time and time again and tell your friends, family and colleagues to come along too, to that end I try to give fair pricing, great service, sound advice and always try let you know the full cost of anything before the work is booked in.
Thanks for reading this; I promise the rest of the site is more interesting!
Kind regards.
Alan
