Amps
These wonderfull devices boost the music power of your headunit to power larger stronger speakers.
Amp output is measured in watts, as in volts x amps.
There are three important values for every amp:
Peak power: The selling number as I call it, the peak output which attracts the buyer.
RMS: The real amount of sound you are going to get, the real power of an amp.
Input wattage: how much power the amp draws from your battery, really important! It tells me which wiring kit the amp needs to work to its full capacity.
Active Subs are Sub Woofers with an amp built into the sound box so are popular for smaller setups where boot space is restricted. We can supply a quick release plug which makes it easy to remove them to make space for the shopping!
If you are going for the amp and sub layout which does give better performance it is important to match the sub and the amp, too powerfull an amp used to its full potential will destroy subs for a pastime and will not be replaced under warranty! Use the 15% rule! A sub must have an RMS value at least 15% higher then the amp’s rms output. The peak output numbers should also be suitably matched. The higher the ratio the longer the sub will last.
I don’t stock BIG BOY STUFF with peaks of 3000 watts + but am happy to quote for such gear and I can usually beat the internet guys on branded products such as JBL.
